- Edo Bruins to COREtec Basketball Academy Ostend
The COREtec Basketball Academy Oostende is the progression of youth players to the first team. Youth players trained at Basket@Sea will eventually end up in the basketball school. It is a training for young players who would like to play in the first division. The players receive training twice a day, given by coaches of a very high level. The players are also guided in their nutrition. How do the players combine this with school? It is a collaboration with the Athena school where we can train players from the age of 12 to the sixth grade. At the age of 15 to 16 we select the better players and they end up in the basketball school. These players receive a flexible program where they can train in the morning during school hours, 3 to 4 times a week. In addition, they have 5 evening training sessions a week to properly develop the players. Players who arrive at the COREtec Basketball Academy join the U18. The fact that they are still younger does not make much difference. What exactly do the training courses entail? The morning consists of the following sessions: – A fitness session with Mehdi Datoussaid. – A shooting session by coaches Maarten Caron, Peter Vanhoucke and head coach Thomas Dreesen of the COREtec Basketball Academy. The evening training sessions depend on the players' level, either they train with the U18 or with the U21. The U21 playing group plays in Top Division 2 (3rd national). The stronger players of the U21 can often train with the first team in the morning due to the flexible trajectory they have. There is a good flow of young players to the first team. >>> Read more
